Description
This hands on two-day course will teach participants the anatomy of the pelvic floor, including muscles, nerves, and connective tissues, and explain their roles in continence and support. Explain the physiology of micturition, including neural control and bladder function in normal and pathological states. Perform a basic pelvic floor evaluation, including external and internal assessment techniques, patient education, and documentation. Assess pelvic floor muscle strength and endurance using standardized tools and clinical reasoning to guide treatment planning. Differentiate between stress urinary incontinence, urge urinary incontinence, and overactive bladder, including etiology, presentation, and contributing factors. Design and implement evidence-informed treatment strategies for stress urinary incontinence, urge urinary incontinence, and overactive bladder incorporating behavioral, manual, and exercise-based interventions.
